Loving Lord‚
do you never tire of being good to me?
Why then am I so slow in showing my love to you
by being good to others?

As you find joy in the happiness of your children‚
let me also find joy in my service to others.
O Lord‚ give me what I lack.
Make me into what I am not.
Let the proof of your forgiving and merciful love
towards me‚
encourage me to patience‚ forgiveness and mercy
towards others
amen

Liefdevolle Here‚

laat my tog ook vreugde vind in diens aan my naaste.
Ag‚ Here‚ gee my wat ek nie het nie.
Máák my wat ek nie is nie.
teenoor my‚
teenoor ander
amen

GOD SAID NO

Filed under: God, religion — prayerweb @ 7:24 pm

I asked God to take away my habit.
God said, No.

It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.
God said, No.

His spirit is whole, his body is only temporary

I asked God to grant me patience.
God said, No.

Patience is a byproduct of tribulations;

it isn’t granted, it is learned.

I asked God to give me happiness.
God said, No.

I give you blessings; Happiness is up to you.

I asked God to spare me pain.
God said, No.

Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares

and brings you closer to me.

I asked God to make my spirit grow.
God said, No.

You must grow on your own! ,

but I will prune you to make you fruitful.

I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life. God said, No.I will give you life, so that you may enjoy all things.

I asked God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me.
God said…Ahhhh, finally you have the idea.

THIS DAY IS YOURS DON’T THROW IT AWAY

LEER MY HEER / TEACH ME, OH LORD

Here‚ die dag lê voor my.
my gedagtes‚
my wil‚
my optrede.

in my te laat groei.
Laat my teleurstelling benut om geduld te leer;
Laat my verraad benut om getrouheid te leer;
Laat my stres benut om selfbeheersing te leer;
Laat my onreg benut om goedhartigheid te leer;
Laat my lof benut om nederigheid te leer;
Laat my skimpe en verwyt benut
om vrede en vriendelikheid te leer.
En leer my om hartseer te benut
om die kosbaarheid van liefde en vreugde
te waardeer.
amen

—————————————

Lord‚ the day lies before me.
Left to my own devices‚ at the end of it
I will only regret that I wasn’t
what I could have been in you.
Therefore I pray that the Spirit will now take control
of my thoughts‚
my will‚
my actions.

O God‚ now use every situation
this day may hold‚
as opportunity to let the fruit of the Spirit
instead of the weeds of sin
grow in me.
Let me use disappointment to learn patience;
Let me use treason to learn faithfulness;
Let me use stress to learn self control;
Let me use injustice to learn kindness;
Let me use praise to learn humility;
Let me use slurs and hints
to learn peace and friendliness.
And teach me to use sadness
to appreciate the value of love and joy.
amen

MY SAVIOR / MY VERLOSSER

Why are you downcast‚ O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God;
for I will yet praise him‚
my Savior and my God!

(Ps. 42:5)

——————————————————-

“O my siel‚ waarom onrustig?
En wat buig jy jou in my?
Menigmaal het Hy jou druk
laat verwissel in geluk.
Hoop op God‚ in Hom weer rustig!
In sy lof sal ’k my verlustig.”

(Ps. 42:3 – Berym)

THE FOLDED NAPKIN

Filed under: God, Heilige Gees, Jesus, religion — prayerweb @ 7:10 pm

Why did Jesus fold the linen burial cloth after His
resurrection? I never noticed this before. Have you?

The Gospel of John (20:7) tells us that the napkin, which was

placed over the face of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like the grave

clothes. The Bible takes an entire verse to tell us that the napkin
was neatly folded, and was placed at the head of that stony coffin
.

Early Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came
to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the
entrance. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the
one whom Jesus loved.

She said, ‘They have taken the Lord’s body out of the tomb, and I
don’t know where they have put him!’ Peter and the other disciple
ran to the tomb to see. The other disciple out ran Peter and got there
first. He stooped and looked in and saw the linen cloth lying
there, but he didn’t go in. Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He
also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had

covered Jesus’ head was folded up and lying to the side

Is that important? Absolutely! Is it really significant? Yes!
In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to
understand a little bit about Hebrew tradition of that day. The folded
napkin had to do with the Master and Servant, and every Jewish boy
knew this tradition.

When the servant set the dinner table for the master, he made sure
that it was exactly the way the master wanted it. The table was
furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just out of
sight, until the master had finished eating, and the servant would not
dare touch that table, until the master was finished. Now if the
master was done eating, he would rise from the table, wipe his
fingers, his mouth, and clean his beard, and would wad up that
napkin and toss it onto the table. The servant would then know to clear
the table. For in those days, the wadded napkin meant, ‘I’m done’.
But if the master got up from the table, and folded his napkin, and
laid it beside his plate,
the servant would not dare touch the table,
because….. …..

The folded napkin meant, ‘I’m coming back !’

BLESSINGS / SEENINGE

Filed under: Afrikaans, God, Heilige Gees, Jesus, church, emerging church, gebede, prayer, religion — prayerweb @ 3:50 pm

You who send for the morning
and call the light‚
You‚ inextinguishable fire‚
who rose over us
like the sun –
take us with
in your beams
and make us flourish
in your eyes.
You who broke the resistance
of the night
and creates a future for us
out of darkness‚
bless us today
with your Light.
amen

————————————

U‚ wat die oggend ontbied
en die lig naderroep‚
U‚ onblusbare vuur‚
wat soos die son
oor ons opgegaan het –
neem ons saam
in u strale
en laat ons gedy
in u oë.
U‚ wat die weerstand van die nag
verbreek
en uit die donker
vir ons ’n toekoms skep‚
seën ons vandag
met u Lig.
amen

Our Father who is in heaven‚
with you I find peace.
I am satisfied.
Even if the sun burns out
and the world turns to darkness –
your light shines.
Even if the world doesn’t turn
on its own axle anymore‚
your faithfulness is eternal.
Lord‚ you are my life‚
the sum of my being‚
the source of my comfort‚
the hope of the future.
amen

————————-

Ons Vader wat in die hemel is‚
by U vind ek rus‚ vrede.
Ek is tevrede.
Al sou die son uitbrand
en die heelal donker word –
u lig bly brand.
Al sou die aarde nie meer
om sy as wentel nie‚
u trou is vir altyd.
Here‚ U is my lewe‚
die som van my sin‚
die bron van my troos‚
die hoop van toekoms.

TEACH ME HOW TO LIVE / LEER MY HOE OM TE LEWE

Filed under: Uncategorized — prayerweb @ 5:06 pm

 Merciful and holy Father‚
give me the wisdom to see something of you;
the intelligence to understand something of you;
the diligence and patience to wait for you;
a heart that thinks about your love and holiness
and a life that speaks of your greatness.
I am asking this through the power of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.
amen

———————–

O genadige en heilige Vader‚
gee my die wysheid om iets van U raak te sien;
die intelligensie om iets van U te verstaan;
die ywer en geduld om op U te wag;
amen

LAAT EK U NAAM HEILIG

Filed under: Uncategorized — prayerweb @ 5:03 pm

Vader‚
U het ’n Naam
’n heilige‚ heerlike‚ hemelse Naam.
U roep my
by mý naam.
Ek is iemand‚
want U is my adres.
Leer my om só
amen
